Will Growing a Beard Make You More Attractive? Science Says Yes.

In a study by the Official Journal of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society, researchers polled female and male participants about how a man's facial hair (or lack thereof) affects how he is perceived. The survey concluded (should we really act surprised here?) that attraction increases when a man grows out his facial hair. Across the board, a full beard was preferred to scruff, and stubble was preferred to a clean-shaven mug.

1. Most Attractive: Female participants in studies that analyzed male facial hair have rated heavy stubble as the most attractive look. Men equally enjoyed the appearance of heavy stubble or a full beard.

2. Healthiest: Men and women indicated that men who have a full beard appear to be healthier than those without any type of facial hair.

3. Best Parenting Skills: This was another category that both genders ascribed to men who maintain a full beard.

4. Masculinity: The perception of a man's masculinity increases with the amount of facial hair that he has. So if you want to be seen as a hardboiled individual, you should consider cultivating a full beard.

If you aren't sporting a beard already, it's time to get growing. If you're well on your way, be sure it's in tip-top shape.
