The Next Big ‘90s Throwback Hair Trend Is Also the Easiest to Pull Off
With the half-up hair trend back in heavy rotation, it was only a matter of time before another '90s mainstay caught our attention. This time around, it's two the face-faming tendrils that were the cherry on top of every prom updo of the Clueless generation. Kendall Jenner, the style's current spokesperson of sorts, has been wearing the look to her recent red carpet appearances (including Cannes) andin true model fashionis convincing us that this throwback look is still super wearable.
The key to making the two deliberately loose pieces look modern is keeping the rest of your hair effortless and slightly undone (so lay off the hairspray and tightly curled hair of yesteryear), which also makes this style extremely easy to recreate. Start with Jenner's Tony Awards look (above), where she paired her tendrils with tousled waves: Create a simple center part, section off two face-framing tendrils, and tuck the rest of your hair behind your ears. Smooth the two front pieces with a flexible, shine-enhancing styling product like PARLOR's Reworkable Hold Paste and you have a 2015-appropriate homage to the '90sno scrunchies or butterfly clips in sight.
