Wash Day Doesn't Have to Be Stressful Anymore

"Im a born planner whos happiest when making a list. So when the time came for me to revamp my hair regimen while growing it out, I came up with a bunch of boxes to check off over the coming months.
The first thing on my to-do list was shortening my once-a-week, four-hour-long Saturday washing routine. Cutting the process would go a long way toward making me fall in love with my natural texture. I usually detangle and twist my hair using conditioner before I shampoo. Then I sit with the conditioner on for about an hour before carefully lathering up just my scalp. Its a technique I learned about on YouTube, and has helped me avoid matted-together hair, pesky single-strand knots, and a bunch of curls being lost to my shower drain. But its definitely a time suck!
Finding a shampoo that would eliminate my pre-conditioning process was key. I skipped the twisting and just hopped in the shower. Being able to lather up without worrying about knots was amazing! My hair was tangle-free, and I was even able to work through it (gently) with my detangling comb (Editors Pick: [Number 4 Super Detangling Comb] (https://www.birchbox.com/product/20027)). All in all, I was able to knock an hour off my routine.

One snowy Friday night a few weeks later, I decided to sleep in a hair mask made out of coffee grounds and castor oil thats supposed to speed up the growth process. To wash it out the next morning, I used a clarifying shampoo without pre-detangling. After conditioning, I sprayed a liberal amount of Bain de Terre Green Meadow Instant Combing Detangler (Editors Pick: [Davines OI All in One Milk] (https://www.birchbox.com/product/10375)) in my hair before sectioning it, combing through it, and braiding it up. The comb glided through my coils without a problem, and there was a negligible amount of strands in it afterward. The next time I want to skip my pre-shampoo hour of conditioning and detangling, this product will help me make up for it quickly.
Im not sure yet what Ill do with my extra time every SaturdayIll have to add picking out a new hobby to my to-do list. In the meantime, Ill be searching for a conditioner that works faster, too."
