The 5 MAC Cosmetics Products You Need to Know
Prep + Prime Fix+
At first, a makeup setting spray seemed like just an extra step that is better left for the proswe're not looking to add to our routine; if anything we're always trying to find ways to save time. Well, ironically, this wondrous water mist does just that. A quick (key word) spritz of the refreshing cucumber-, green tea-, and chamomile-infused spray does more than just smell really delightful and wake you up...though we really appreciate those qualities. It will actually help keep your makeup looking the way it does when you walk out the door in the morning. So, rather than buffering in a midday touch up after you look in the mirror and realize that your foundation has pretty much all worn off, use that time to go grab a coffee instead.
Strobe Cream
We've been intrigued by the technique of makeup strobing ever since it came to light (get it?) shortly after the contouring craze. And while we love using highlighter in all formspowder, liquid, stick, and creamto illuminate the parts of the face where light naturally hits, we have to admit we were a bit hesitant to apply this moisturizer with iridescent particles all over our face. Were we going to look like a total grease ball...or worse, a disco ball? But the result was the literal interpretation of the word "lit"since that's apparently also a thing. After applying our foundation on top, our skin looked brighter, luminous (not shiny, big difference) and just generally more awake. Looks like this botanical and antioxidant-packed cream, which is just as much skincare as it is makeup, is officially entering the rotation.
In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash Mascara
We've seen a lot of interesting shaped mascara brushes, but this one is pretty simple...it's long and straight. It goes to show that you don't need a magic wand to get the job done. The separation of its bristles evenly distributes (read: no clumping!) the whipped carbon-black formula to fully coat each lash in one stroke. Its tapered tip also allows you to get those tough inner and outer corners without causing any messy smudges. And you know what's magic? The way it adds length, volume, and just the right amount of drama.
Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo
Chances are if you've ever looked into finding the perfect red lipstick, this cult-favorite shade kept popping up. One of the reasons it's so popular can definitely be attributed to its high-impact matte finish, because let's face it: if you're swiping on a red lip, you're not afraid to make a statement. But what we discovered makes it even more covetable is the fact that the blue undertones in the red pigments make it universally flattering (Bonus! It will also help your teeth appear whiter).
Mineralize Skinfinish
It's hard to identify this pretty powder compact as one specific product. Is it a bronzer? A highlighter? A setting powder? Actually, it's all three! The velvety, slow-baked pigments are packed with vitamin E and minerals to impart a radiant sheen across the face. Or you could use different colors in the multi-shade swirl to highlight, bronze and color correct specific areasfor example: the gold flecks in the Global Glow shade can be applied over your cheekbones, and the peachy yellow tones in the Lightscapade shade work to counteract redness. Basically you could call it the multi-purpose powder you never knew you needed.
